MANILA, Philippines — An outrigger carrying around seven health workers capsized near a wharf in the island municipality of Tingloy, Batangas province past noon on Wednesday, the provincial police commander said.

There were no reported injuries and the occupants of the small boat were rescued immediately, said Senior Superintendent David Quimio.

The outrigger capsized after it got entangled with the ropes of other vessels docked at the wharf, Quimio said in a phone interview.

The boat was ferrying the health workers to a Coast Guard ship anchored a distance from the shore, he said.

The Coast Guard ship, which was headed for the Batangas City pier, had among its occupants, Batangas Governor Vilma Santos, the police official said.
