Ceasefire body meets on Moro rebels’ pullout
MANILA, Philippines — A ceasefire implementing body chaired jointly by the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) would meet late Saturday afternoon to finalize plans for the rebels’ pullout from North Cotabato province, the head of the government panel said.
As of 4 p.m., the MILF remained in Dunguan village, where they would ride pump boats that would take them through the Liguasan Marsh and to their old base in Maguindanao province, said Brigadier General Reynaldo Sealana.
“We will discuss how to proceed with the pullout, as of now, they are still in Dunguan,” Sealana said in a phone interview.
Sealana said the rebels sent a message to the MILF Central Committee through emissaries. He did not reveal what it contained.
