MANILA, Philippines—Philippine Air Force (PAF) planes dropped bombs on the suspected lair of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) commander Ameril Umbra Kato Wednesday, a spokesman for the PAF said.

The first wave of strikes started at 12 p.m. and involved SF-260TP planes, Major Gerardo Zamudio said, adding the exact location of the strikes could not be immediately revealed for operational reasons.

Two more waves of strikes involved OV-10 Bronco bomber planes and S-211 jets, Zamudio said in a statement to reporters.

“All air strikes were directed towards the direction of Umbra Kato’s camp as identified by Army troops on the ground. This operation will continue until we achieve our goals,” Zamudio said.

“The PAF have enough air assets, munitions and will power to sustain the Mindanao air operations against the perpetrators,” he added.

Kato and his fighters from the 105th Base Command of the MILF seized 15 villages in North Cotabato province earlier this month, prompting the military to launch offensives that dislodged them from the villages.
