MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has announced six new government appointments, which include a former lawmaker.

Former Nueva Ecija Representative Renato Diaz was appointed member of the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said.

Diaz was also formerly the Presidential Adviser for North Luzon.

Arroyo also appointed State Prosecutor Geronimo Sy, who has served under the Department of Justice (DoJ) for nine years, as department undersecretary, Ermita said.

The other appointments are:

• Bai Omera Dinalan-Lucman, women’s sector representative to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) board.
• Emmanuel Mahipus, executive director, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)
• Robert Albano, regional director, LTFRB
• Raymundo Agravante, regional director, Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE)

“Their appointment papers were signed by the President on Sept. 24, 2008 and they will immediately take their office as soon as they receive their respective appointment papers,” Ermita said.
