Arroyo: Check up ‘very unexciting’
Gets ‘clean bill of health’
MANILA, Philippines — President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said she was given a clean bill of health, following an executive check-up whose results her doctors said were “very unexciting.”
Arroyo and First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo underwent the check-up at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City on Friday evening.
“The doctors gave me a clean bill of health. They said the results were very unexciting. Everyday I have a full schedule. So after our activities here I will proceed to Hong Kong for the Clinton Initiative,” Arroyo told reporters at the Palace over lunch on Monday.
Arroyo was scheduled to leave for Hong Kong early Monday evening to attend the Clinton Global Initiative, hosted by her former Georgetown University classmate, former United States president Bill Clinton.
“The President is very, very well conditioned as you know. She undertakes periodic conditioning, she plays golf, she goes on very rigid exercise three times four times a week, better than I do, she is very well prepared,” Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said.
Arroyo was last hospitalized mid-2007 due to a bum stomach.
