Mike Arroyo seeks doctors’ advice—lawyer
MANILA, Philippines – First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo’s doctors will decide whether or not he will testify before a Senate investigation into alleged corruption in World Bank road projects, his lawyer said Friday.
“The First Gentleman is always willing to answer the allegations but it will depend on his doctors. It’s a medical decision,” lawyer Ruy Rondain said in a phone interview.
Mr. Arroyo’s doctors said that their patient could suffer a heart attack while being questioned, Rondain said.
“He’s very disappointed but is taking this in stride. He is rolling with the punches,” the lawyer said when asked how Mr. Arroyo was taking the allegations against him.
