MANILA, Philippines—“Keep people safe.”

This was President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo message to the 304 graduates of the Philippine National Police Academy’s Kaisang-Bisig Class of 2009 on Thursday.

Of the 304 graduates, 266 were commissioned to the Philippine National Police, 25 to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and 13 to the Bureau of Fire Protection during commencement exercises at Camp Castañeda in Silang town, Cavite.

“Our people have given you the rare opportunity to develop your potential, go now and give back what you received by keeping the people safe,” Arroyo said in her speech.

“And as you keep the people safe, you will be able to carry out to your careers your theme today of justice integrity and service, essential values towards a strong and globally competitive republic,” she said.
